Ajax Firing Exercise Trials "A Success" Says British Army
The British Army has hailed as a success its most recent tests of its new Ajax armoured vehicle in UK exercises.
In a post on social media platform X, it announced that military crews had completed its first firing-on-the-move exercise in the UK.
The news comes after a series of cold-weather tests conducted in Sweden earlier in the year.
The Ajax represents part of an advanced fleet of Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) designed by General Dynamics that will provide all-weather reconnaissance and strike capability to the army at increased range. It also includes the Atlas recovery vehicle; the Apollo armoured repair vehicle; the Ares armoured personnel carrier, the Athena command and control (C2) vehicle; and the Argus engineering vehicle.
The footage posted on social media pictured the Ajax firing upon targets while crossing training ranges.
Almost 600 Ajax-family ARVs were ordered by the British government back in 2015; after a series of delays delivery is now due between 2024 and 2029.
