The two plants are Government-Owned, Contractor-Operated facilities, under the Joint Munitions Command, and play a critical role in the security of the nation and its allies.

BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI) operates the Radford and Holston Army Ammunition Plants and demonstrated the team’s continued support of the Army customer and the country’s needs, both today and into the future.

“It was a great honor to host the Chief in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee to highlight our dedicated workforce,” said John Swift, vice president and general manager for BAE Systems OSI. “The proud Americans working to deliver the Army’s vision are being recognized at the highest levels of the U.S. Army.”

During General George’s visit to the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, he sat down with the team to discuss how the site is a core, strategic asset in meeting Army artillery demands. General George highlighted Radford’s success with legacy propellant production, the path to future production capabilities, and the team’s success in producing propellant to reach extended range targets. While touring the facility, he thanked operators for their multi-generational family tradition of working at and supporting the facility.

The visit to the Holston Army Ammunition Plant included a tour of the production capabilities, as well as facility modernization. General George discussed future production at Holston, the mission-dependent product being delivered today, and the modernization work taking place.
