Approaching the end of the year, Ukraine is still dependent on the support it receives from Denmark and other Allies, to defend itself from Russia’s illegal war. Therefore, the Government consulted The Foreign Policy Committee of further donations to Ukraine.

“We are doing it to secure Ukraine’s possibility to continue the fight against its aggressor, but also to show the way for other”, says Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.

More resources are allocated for the Industrial Fund, which was established in order to procure new defence equipment to Ukraine by involving the Danish defence industry.

“From the beginning of the war, Denmark has focused on the most urgent Ukrainian needs. The Defence industry has shown that they can deliver what is needed in Ukraine. Therefore the government will increase the funding for the industry in order for the last contracts to be resolved this year”. Says Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen.

The extra funding will be added to the approximately 2,6 bill. DKK, which has previously been set aside for the industry.

“The war in Ukraine is at a critical stage. It is crucial that we support Ukraine as much as possible. Europe needs to step up, and with today’s donation package, we are fulfilling specific requests from Ukraine on Denmark’s behalf, once again demonstrating that Denmark is at the forefront of Ukraine’s fight for freedom. I hope more countries will follow suit,” says Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The Foreign Policy Committee has also been informed that Denmark together with France will be moving the delivery of a number of CEASAR artillery systems to Ukraine forward.

The CAESAR artillery systems were originally planned to be delivered throughout 2024 and 2025 with the final deliveries in 2026, however Ukraine will receive the artillery system in 2025.
