Fuelling The Fight On Predator's Run
Troops from the U.K. and Australia were part of a multinational team working side by side to keep combat vehicles fuelled and ready to fight on a demanding training exercise Down Under.
As per a recent release published on Australia's Department of Defence (DoD) website, members of the U.K.'s Royal Marine Commandos Logistic Regiment and the Australian Army 1st Combat Service Support Battalion were among those deployed on Exercise Predator's Run.
Staged in scorching conditions in the Bradshaw Field Training Area, just over 350 miles south of Darwin in the country's Northern Territory, the logistics experts were tasked with supporting Battle Group Tiger, essentially providing its vehicles with a portable service station.
Aussie soldier Lance Corporal Adrian Cluning explained: “In a place as big and remote as this, you become an essential worker within the team — Army doesn’t go without fuel.”
U.K. private Charlie Wright, a full-time petroleum operators (PETOP) from Warrington in north-west England, added: “We just literally essentially build a petrol station in the middle of anywhere and get everyone to come round and fuel up around us... We have a big responsibility to the team; it’s pressure, but it’s nice.”
