Germany Signs Up For Patria's Armoured Vehicle Programme
Germany and Patria have signed today a work package covering the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme-related mortar variants development and qualification for Bundeswehr. The work package takes place under the CAVS research and development agreement, into which Germany has accessed in 2024. The scope of the work package includes building of CAVS NEMO and CAVS mortar command & control variants, their integration with German mission systems and the qualification of the entire system to German customer requirements. The value of the agreement is approximately 50 million Euros, further details of the scope are not publicly disclosed.
The now signed CAVS work package offers an opportunity for other participating nations in the programme – present or future – to benefit of the results of this work package.
CAVS NEMO variant is based on combining the market available Patria 6x6 vehicle and Patria’s NEMO 120 mm turreted mortar system, both being market leaders in their own segments.
“Patria is very pleased to see Germany signing the first national CAVS variants development and qualification agreement. The 120 mm turreted mortar variant adds totally new performance to the international CAVS programme, and we trust that other participants of the programme will be very interested in this advanced capability. The development and qualification of these new CAVS variants will be done in close co-operation with the German industry, and the future serial production will be realised with our earlier published industrial partners KNDS, FFG and JWT“, says Jukka Holkeri, Executive Vice President, Global, Patria.
