The Variable Six Laser Advanced Pointer (VSLAP), a compact high-power near infrared handheld target pointer.

Six new products are being showcased at a major American defence exhibition by a firm which specialises in supplying advanced photonics solutions for the military, law enforcement, consumer, and aerospace industries.

U.S. defense technology manufacturer B.E. Meyers & Co. unveiled its new product lines for 2025 at AUSA2024. The three-day event is being held at the Walter Washington Convention Center, in Washington, DC and concludes today (Wednesday).

The firm recently won an order with a potential total value of $50 million to supply U.S. Special Forces troops with miniaturised laser sights. The SAL-UHP ordered by the U.S. Department of Defence (DoD) is a variant of its DAGIR Multi-Platform Advanced Laser System based on a new Vertical-Cavity, Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) core.

As well as the V1 andV2 versions of DAGIR, at AUSA2024 the firm is launching its Miniature Intelligent Laser Rangefinder (MILR) which is described as "the world’s first ballistically
disturbed infrared laser Fire Control System."
The MILR supports a wide range of platforms and applications; it's optimised for machine guns and offers a lightweight and comprehensive solution for ranging, aiming, and illuminating that means there's no need for additional clip-on night vision devices.

The company is also showcasing its new Variable Six Laser Advanced Pointer (VSLAP), a compact high-power near infrared handheld target pointer and illuminator system. It uses the company's proprietary "DeathStar" technology to combine six independent lasers into a single concentrated beam, emitting up to 1.21 Watts of near infrared pointing/illuminating capability in either continuous wave or pulse settings.

The VSLAP can be adjusted to produce either a tight near-infrared pointer or, by turning the adjustment collar, combining all beams into a smooth NIR illuminator.

Other products being promoted at AUSA2024 include its BOARS-M2.1 optics and accessory rail modular mounting solution for the M2A1 series of .50 calibre machine gun and its IZLID Ultra Airborne Kit infrared pointer system currently being used by some of the U.S. Navy's rotary-wing platforms and other aircraft.

The privately-owned firm was established in 1974; its products include visible, near infrared, and Short Wavelength InfraRed (SWIR) aiming, illumination, and pointing lasers as well as non-lethal laser dazzlers. They can be fitted on individual weapons, crew-served weapons, and as integral offensive components on fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing-aircraft, and various configurations of unmanned ground vehicles and airborne systems.

The company’s customers include all U.S. military branches, including most Special Operations Forces, as well as many U.S. prime contractors, NATO military elements, law enforcement organisations, and U.S. intelligence agencies. The firm exports to 38 nations worldwide.
