A new version of KNDS' Dingo 3 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) went on show in the U.K. for the first time this week.

The German firm was showing off its Dingo 3 4x4 patrol variant at the British Army's Defence Vehicle Dynamics (DVD2024) exhibition in Millbrook, Bedfordshire, earlier this week.

As per the KNDS website, although it's the same size externally as its Dingo 2 predecessor, the new design can accommodate an increased payload of up to three tonnes. It also features an upgraded power system, a fully automatic gearbox and an automatic tyre-inflation system.

Internally, there are new driver-information systems, uprated air conditioning to cope with extreme temperatures, and upgraded electrical power for on-board systems.

The militarised Unimog V-shaped chassis offers protection from anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)s, small arms fire, and shrapnel from artillery and mortar shells. It's also designed to provide effective shelter from Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) threats.

Its modular design means the platform can be equipped with various weapons and different variants can accommodate up to eight occupants. The large-capacity cell has doors at the side and rear and is configured for a wide variety of equipment kits, such as command post, NBC reconnaissance or ambulance.

The standard version of the Dingo 3 will be used by the German Army,  the Bundeswehr; the vehicle is scheduled to go into production in January 2025.
