NP Aerospace Lands £71m British Army Maintenance Contract
Legacy vehicles operated by the British Army will have their life extended thanks to a new £71 million maintenance deal with NP Aerospace.
The Conventional Vehicle Systems Spares and Post Design Services (CVSSP) contract spans four years and relates to the Land Rover and Pinzgauer platforms operated by the British Army.
The deal was announced this week at DVD 2024, the biennial Defence Vehicle Dynamic event taking place at the vehicle testing grounds at Millbrook.
As per a Ministry of Defence (MoD) press statement, the new deal will “ensure that vehicle fleet availability is maintained at the required levels to meet operational and training needs” and will create about 100 new jobs in the Midlands.
Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry, Maria Eagle, said: “This new contract will help to secure the future of… crucial capabilities, streamlining the processes involved in repairs and upgrades, while boosting UK economic growth at the same time.”
Brigadier Matt Wilkinson from the Vehicle Support Team at Defence, Equipment and Support, added: “We have a long-standing relationship with NP Aerospace, and I’m delighted that we are able to continue this partnership.”
DVD 2024 also marked the first time that the army’s fleet of future armoured vehicles — Ajax, Boxer and Challenger 3 — were presented together side-by-side; more than 1,300 of three platforms are due to be operational by 2030.
