Oshkosh Set To Deliver 500 Armoured Vehicles To Lithuania
In January, Lithuania received 50 advanced armored personnel carriers called Joint Light Tactical Vehicles JLTV. After getting the remainder of the U.S.-manufactured vehicles through this year, the Lithuanian Armed Forces will operate 500 JLTVs.
Acquisition of one of the world’s most cutting-edge armored personnel carriers was initiated to ensure the Armed Forces has what it needs to carry out operations. The acquisition follows a pattern of cooperation with the United States.
The JLTV procurement was launched in 2019 with a contract signed by the Ministry of National Defence and the U.S. Government. Having concluded the first stage last year with a delivery of 200 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles to the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the next one concerns 300 pieces of JLTV produced for Lithuania by the U.S. manufacturer Oshkosh Defense. This amount is due to be delivered this year.
The JLTV platform will be mounted with the RBS70 NG (MSHORAD) short-range air defence system Lithuania acquired back in July 2024, which is planned to be delivered in 2025-2027.
