Patria has signed a Life Cycle Management (LCM) contract with Finland and Latvia for its Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, which is based on its 6x6 vehicle.

CAVS was a 2020 accord that was initially agreed between Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, with Sweden and Germany coming on board in 2022.

The Patria 6×6 APC's main function is troop transport, but it can also be configured for a variety of other roles as well. Optional features include amphibious capabilities, a winch, and upgraded armour. In terms of weaponry, the platform can carry weapons ranging from a machine gun with a calibre of up to 25/30mm and Patria's Nemo 120mm turreted mortar.

As per a Patria press release, other CAVS countries may later join the LCM contract, which secures co-operation and cost efficiencies. It covers the delivery of services necessary to carry out the sustainment of the CAVS vehicles and related capabilities through entire operational life of the fleet.

The CAVS programme currently includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Germany. After the inclusion of the LCM contract, the programme includes three frame agreements: research and development, manufacturing and sustainment, and now lifecycle management.

Mats Warstedt, Senior Vice President, Nordics, commented: "I'm excited that CAVS programme is entering into the sustainment phase... which will secure long-term co-operation for always keeping the fleets fully operational."
