The U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken has announced more donations of weapons and equipment to Ukraine with a total value of close to half a billion dollars.

As per a U.S. Department of State (DoS) press statement issued yesterday (Wednesday), a new package of arms valued at about $425 million will be dispatched to the beleaguered European nation to support the country's ongoing struggle to repel the Russian invasion.

Among the equipment, weapons and munitions being handed over are National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS); RIM-7 missiles for air defence; Stinger anti-aircraft missiles; air-to-ground munitions;  ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition; cluster munitions; High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs); Javelin, AT-4, and other anti-tank systems; Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles; light tactical vehicles; small arms, ammunition and grenades.

The gear is being donated under previously executed Presidential Drawdown Authority from Department of Defence stocks. The United States has committed more than $56 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden Administration, more than $55 billion of which has been gifted since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
