British military vehicle manufacturer Supacat has just launched two new platforms: an Armoured Closed-Cab version of its High Mobility Transporter (HMT ACC) and a Tactical Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV-T).

The Devon-based defence firm unveiled its two new offerings at the DVD2024 event at UTAC Millbrook this week.

The HMT ACC shares much of its core subsystem components with its sister HMT variants and Jackal vehicles already in use by the British Army and eight other nations including the U.S., Australia and Ukraine.

The new HMT ACC variant has a four-person closed cab that will offer bespoke-on-request levels of protection against blasts and ballistics. It has a 4.5 tonne payload capacity.

As per a Supacat press statement, roles envisioned for the HMT ACC include troop-carrying, Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD), and recovery and ambulance duties.

The Supacat LMV-TThe other new vehicle, the LMV-T (pictured right: Image: Supacat), weds Toyota components to a bespoke chassis and combat cell to provide what it described as “a world-class high-mobility platform with unrivalled versatility and resilience for the battlefield.”

It comes in four- and six-wheeled variants and can be loaded inside CH-47 Chinook helicopters and C-130 Hercules, A400M Atlas and C-17 Globemaster III planes. It can also be carried in a sling under a AW101 Merlin helicopter.

Armoured Car Systems in Bayern, Germany, has provided the LMV-T’s combat cell, which is a modified version of the design used on its Enok vehicle.

Director and head of Supacat Phil Applegarth said: “Supacat has been privileged to partner with the British Army, and other armies around the world, in the development of what we are confident are the most versatile, rugged and interchangeable military vehicle platforms in the world.

“Our new Light Mobility Vehicle… [is] designed specifically with Special Forces in mind, fulfilling a ‘fly and drive’ capability, with its low weight and compact design enabling tactical loading into transporter aircraft systems whilst maintaining excellent payload capacity.

“Meanwhile, as U.K. MoD and other defence forces look to rationalise their fleets to achieve great modularity and cost control, our Armoured Closed-Cab HMT has the potential to revolutionise the army’s ability to sustain operations with much reduced burden on logistics, maintenance and cost.

“At the heart of our design for both systems has been MOD’s intent under its Land Integrated Strategy to simplify logistics whilst increasing effectiveness.”
