The U.K. Ministry of Defence has launched a new £120 million procurement initiative for night vision kit to equip its armed forces.

The Night Vision Devices Multi-Supplier Framework Agreement (FA) is seeking bids from industry partners to supply Front Line Commands (FLCs) with state-of-the-art night-vision tech over the next seven years, with the completed devices to be delivered by autumn 2031.

As per the tender notice the new procurement drive seeks to secure a “multi-product, multi-supplier Framework Agreement (FA) contract for helmet-mounted night vision capabilities.” Technologies covered under the agreement include (but are not limited to) “binoculars, monoculars, and wide-field-of-view night vision goggles.”

Suppliers seeking to meet the requirements of the FA will have to supply technical information about their products, which will then be evaluated. If approved, competing products will be added to a catalogue, and then contests will be held to decide on procurement decisions.

According to the notice: “Mini-competitions shall be undertaken using a pre-determined evaluation process.”
