After months of debate, outgoing President Joe Biden has given the go-ahead for Ukraine to use American-made missiles to strike deep inside Russia. Reports are currently circulating that France and the United Kingdom will soon follow suit, thus giving the Ukrainians more assets to use.

While the details are still unclear, long-range strikes are allegedly going to be limited to the Kursk region where North Korean troops are participating in the ongoing Russian counter-offensive.

American-made ATACMS and Franco-British Storm Shadow missiles are among the long-range capabilities that Ukraine is likely to use in Kursk. The American ATACMS missile can fire a 375-pound warhead with a maximum range of 300 kilometers (km) and is launched from the HIMARS rocket system. On the other hand, the Storm Shadow missile is an aerial-launched missile with a warhead weighing around 900 pounds and can fire at a target as far as 250 km away.
