Ukrainian Defence Minister Claims "$15 Billion" Success
Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov has claimed his country's bespoke Delta situational awareness and battlefield management system has helped its forces destroy enemy equipment valued at more than $15 billion.
As per a press statement issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Defence yesterday (Monday), the Delta system has "already been deployed to all units of Ukraine's Security and Defense Sector."
Mr Umerov remarked: “Ukraine is a high-tech country. Our digital solutions and accurate weapons help counterbalance the numerical superiority of the Russian enemy on the battlefield."
He added: "Our digital team, together with the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other partners, has modernized security measures to ensure that our Defence Forces have the most technologically advanced tools to destroy the enemy."
The Delta system for combat operations was developed by Ukraine's Ministry of Defence. Largely operational since August 2022, it's used for battlefield management tasks including operational and combat mission planning, unit coordination and transmitting information about the precise about location of enemy assets. The information is held in the cloud and runs on regular PCs, laptops, tablets and mobile phones.
“Since the first days of the large-scale invasion, Delta has emerged as a powerful instrument utilized by our military for efficient interaction and warfare. Having been tested on the battlefield, the Delta platform tools will now be more widely used by our military to gain a technological advantage over the enemy,” added Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
The system has undergone trials in NATO's CWIX exercise, which tests and improves the interoperability of combat systems between member and partner states. It also has been integrated with the Topaz Polish artillery fire control system.
