BG KOLEZAS graduated the Hellenic Military Academy, in 1990, as an infantry officer. After attending the infantry tactics and specialization course of the Infantry School, he received his first assignment as platoon leader and commander of small guard post at a south-eastern Aegean Sea island. BG KOLEZAS has fulfilled a wide range of leadership positions at tactical, component and operational level, to include command and staff positions for intelligence, operations, support, planning, CIMIC, training and doctrine, both in national and multinational structures. He has commanded successfully all the levels of military command, from Platoon Leader up to Brigade Commander and received the highest military education and training.
Among his major command and staff milestones may be listed the following:
DCOS PLANS of MNC-SE, where he directed the Planning, Training and CIMIC effort of the HQ during its challenging transition to a mature warfighting NATO force structure that projects the deterrence and secures the defense of the south-east frontier of the Alliance.
BG KOLEZAS was honored to hold the position of Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade “Rimini”, from 16th Mar 21 to 22nd Mar 22.
Moreover, he directed the National Guard Directorate/Hellenic Army General Staff (HAGS) (2019), commanded the 9th Infantry Regiment (2016-2018), assumed the duties of Chief of Staff of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade “Rimini” (2013-2015), commanded a Mech Inf Bn (2010-2013), appointed as Head of Bde Logistics Branch (2009), Deputy Commander of Mech Inf Bn (2008-2009), Head of Bde Intelligence Branch (2003) and commanded an Infantry Company (1993-1995).
His additional multinational staff and operational experience include the execution of duties as: EUMM Team Leader/Team Slunj/Croatia (1997-1998), CIMIC staff officer in COMMZ(W)/Albania (2001-2002), Intelligence Analyst in NATO/LCC HQ/Madrid (2005-2008), MA of ACOS Support/KFOR (2004).
BG KOLEZAS graduated the Hellenic Army Superior War College in 2003 and the National War College of the National Defense University/Washington/USA in 2016. He holds a Master’s degree in National Security Strategy, of the National Defense University/Washington/USA.
He has been decorated with all national and multinational awards and decorations awarded to his rank and the duties he has executed. For his outstanding duties during his appointment as DCOS PLANS of MNC-SE, he was awarded with the Romanian Land Forces Emblem.
