Colonel (Retired) David Meyer

Director of Futures Integration, US Army - Army Futures Command

Colonel David A. Meyer is a native of Monrovia, MD and was commissioned an Armor officer from Frostburg State University, MD in 1994. His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Advanced Military Studies Program and the Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Program (War College), both at the US Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS).


His assignments include the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft Hood, TX; the 3rd Infantry Division at Ft Benning GA; NTC Operations Group at Ft Irwin CA, the Armor School at Ft Knox KY; the 4th Infantry Division at Ft Hood, TX, Iraq, Ft Carson CO and Afghanistan; Cadet Command at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; USAG Ft AP Hill, VA; HQ Resolute Support, Afghanistan and SAMS Seminar Leader at Ft Leavenworth, KS. COL Meyer arrived at FCC at Ft Eustis in 2020 where he served as the G35 and as the FCC G3/5/7. He assumed the duties of the Chief of Staff and Acting Deputy Director in November of 2022.


His awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, five Army Achievement Medals, both the Armed Forces and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals, both the Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, two NATO Medals, two Joint Meritorious Unit Award, two Army Meritorious Unit Awards, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Parachutist Badge and the Silver German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency.


COL Meyer has been married to the former Angela Rizzuto of Poolesville, MD for over 28 years. They have two children.
