Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Hoogsteder's military journey commenced in 2004 with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, where he soared as an AS-532U2 Cougar pilot within the esteemed 300 Squadron of the Defence Helicopter Command. Embarking on numerous deployments to regions like Afghanistan and Somalia from 2007, he displayed unwavering commitment and expertise. Rising through the ranks, he assumed pivotal roles, serving as a flight commander and eventually becoming a lead weapons instructor, harnessing his skills to shape future aviators. Transitioning to staff positions in 2017 marked a new chapter, where he meticulously orchestrated major plans at both the Air Force headquarters and the Ministry of Defence. His visionary leadership steered the inception of the first special operations helicopter unit, a testament to his strategic foresight and operational acumen. Presently, as the program manager, he spearheads transformative initiatives within the Air Force, delineating the path towards a dynamic and adaptable force. From defining the prerequisites for new helicopters to orchestrating comprehensive changes in infrastructure, logistics, and IT, Lieutenant Colonel Hoogsteder embodies the epitome of excellence in military leadership, ensuring the seamless transition of the 300 Squadron to a formidable 300 Special Operations Squadron, poised for the challenges of tomorrow's missions.
