Gen. D. (OF7 – Major General ) Giuseppe BOSSA

Gen. D. Giuseppe BOSSA was born in Naples on 2 November 1972.

He attended the 200th course of the Nunziatella Military School and the 172nd course of the Modena Military Academy. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin.

Having completed the training phase at the Turin Application School, he was assigned to the 10th regiment . g. woe . staff of the "ARIETE" Brigade where he carried out the expected periods of Platoon Commander, Deputy Company Commander and Company Commander. During this period he participated in several missions in Kosovo (Joint Guardian Operation in 1999, 2001 and 2002) and Afghanistan (ISAF Operation in 2002). He concluded his stay at the 10th regiment . g. woe . in 2003 as Operations Officer.

After the period spent with the regiment, he was transferred to the Army General Staff, General and Financial Planning Department - Planning Office, where he was responsible for the capacity development of the operational component of the Army up to promotion to the rank of Major and attendance in 2008 of the 11th Joint General Staff Higher Course (ISSMI) at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Rome.

In 2009, at the end of the ISSMI course, he was transferred to the NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum as Land Planner at the Joint Plans Branch (J5) where he had the opportunity to learn and explore the NATO operational planning process, with particular reference to the force generation process of the ISAF operation, as well as the numerous prudent planning activities, drafting of contingency plans and NATO exercises .

Promoted to lieutenant colonel in 2011, he took command of the sapper battalion of the 2nd rgt , g, gua . organic to the “JULIA” Alpine Brigade in September 2012.

During his stay he carried out various activities to maintain the unit's operational readiness and was also employed in the NATO ISAF operation in Afghanistan.

In 2013 he returned to the Army General Staff to carry out the role of Head of National Planning Section, NATO/EU in the Planning Office of the General and Financial Planning Department, where he dealt with the planning process of NATO forces and the process of capacity development of the operational component of the Army.

Promoted to Colonel, in 2016, he was once again employed at the NATO Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum , as Head of the Commander's Office, a position he will hold until November 2017 as he was designated for the Regimental Command activity at the 5th Rgt . g. woe . of the “SASSARI” Brigade. During the period of Command the Officer also held the position of Commander of the Brigade Detachment (6 months) and Commander of the PASUBIO Operation.

In 2018, at the end of the Command period, he was employed at the General Office of the Chief of Defense Staff, as Chief of the General Staff Office, where he was responsible for the planning, organization and coordination of the activities of the Chief of State Defense Major.

From 6 September 2021 to 14 September 2023 he was the 46th Commander of the "SASSARI" Brigade and in the period from October-December 2023 he also carried out the task as Commander of the national Joint Task Force supporting the FA of Qatar for the carrying out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 (Operation “Orice”).

On 18 September 2023 he was assigned to the Engineers Command as Commander designate and since 22 March 2024 he has been the 6th Commander of the Army Engineers.

His qualifications include a scientific high school diploma, a master's degree in civil engineering, a master's degree in strategic sciences and a master's degree in international strategic-military studies. It is enabled to exercise from the engineering profession .​

He is married to Mrs. Chiara and has 2 children Marco and Elena, and a wonderful cocker spaniel named Giotto.
