Colonel Liviu Zlătan

Logistics Division Head, Romanian Air Force

Starting with November 1st, 2022, COL (AF) Liviu-Mihail ZLĂTAN assumed duties as the Logistics Division Head to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resources, Romanian Air Force Staff.
Commissioned into the Air Force in 1998, COL (AF) Zlătan has served in a wide variety of aircraft maintenance positions throughout the Romanian Air Force units. Most recently, from
Dec 2017 to Nov 2022, he was the Weapons Systems Development Section Head and the Logistics Management Branch Head.


His military education started with the Military High school (graduated in 1991) followed by the Military Technical Academy (graduated in 1998) from where he holds a Diplomat Engineer diploma in the field of Aerospatiale Engineering. His latest educational programs followed are the “Defense Resources Management Course” (2017), “Special Operations Integration Course” (2022), "Current Issues of National Security Postgraduate Course” (2023) and “Common Security and Defense Policy Course” (BEL, 2023). He also graduated the Bucharest University of Economic Studies with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Economic Sciences (2008).


COL (AF) Zlătan is a veteran of BiH Theatre of Operation, being deployed with the ROU Embedded Advisory Team Air Expertise, Mar 2013 – Apr 2014.


Throughout his career, he received the following Honorary Awards and Emblems: "In Service of the Military" for 15, 20 and 25 years of service, "Emblem of Honor of the Romanian Air
Force Staff", "Emblem of Honor of the Romanian Special Operations Staff" and the "Emblem of Honor of the Romanian General Staff".

He speaks English and French and his personal interests also include fishing, traveling, and off-roading.

He is married and has two twin children, age 21.
