Lt Col Swift attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps in 2004.

His military background has been with Pioneers, Commando Logistics, Transport and a specialisation in fuel. At staff he has held appointments in Brigade, Divisional and Field Army Headquarters, and as an inventory manager in Defence Equipment and Support. As a Major, he Commanded the UK’s Defence Petroleum Training Squadron, and was the Regimental Second in Command at 17 Port and Maritime Regiment Royal Logistic Corps.

He is currently working in the 4* Army Headquarters as the Programme Manager for Combat Service Support Programmes, including the Material Distribution Land and Deployable Technical Infrastructure programmes.
