Lieutenant Colonel Sándor Makai
Lt.Col. Sándor Makai attended the Air Force College in Hungary and graduated in 1998 as a helicopter pilot. He started his career at the HDF 89th Szolnok Transport Wing as a co-pilot on MI-8 transport helicopter. He flew Mi-8 until 2004 when the Mi-24 attack helicopters were relocated to Szolnok. He started the type rating conversion that year. He served in
various battalion positions such as EW, S2 staff officer, and flight commander.
He has been an instructor since 2008 and a display pilot on MI-24 since 2010.
He visited several countries, and air shows all over Europe during his career.
He received type rating on H225M helicopter last year, and now he is an instructor, and maintenance check pilot on the type.
He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011, as a member of the Air Mentor Team, under the umbrella of the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan.
He has accumulated 2600 flying hours in the military. He is also a glider pilot in hes free time.
He currently serves as battalion commander of the Attack Helicopter Battalion, HDF Kiss József 86th Helicopter Wing.
