Colonel Timothy Turner
Tim Turner commissioned into the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 2003. During his early career he served in 3 Commando Brigade, trained recruits and deployed to Afghanistan. Subsequent service attached to the Royal Marines saw him return to Afghanistan and conduct a number of further deployments to Africa and Asia. Roles as a junior Major include an assignment to Islamabad, Pakistan in a Defence Engagement role, and as the Plans officer in a Joint unit headquarters.
As a Company Commander in Germany, he took part in NATO exercises throughout Europe and armoured manoeuvre whilst exercising in BATUS, Canada. A year as the Deputy Chief of Staff of a Logistic Support Brigade preceded promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and attendance at the Advanced Command and Staff Course. He left the role of Senior Operations Manager at Defence Equipment & Support to assume command of the Joint Counter Terrorism Training and Advisory Team in the Army Special Operations Brigade. He will take on the role of Deputy Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade in July 2024.
Tim has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield and a master’s degree in Defence Studies from Kings College London.
