Osman Tasman
Osman Tasman was born in Istanbul in 1959. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master’s in Industrial Engineering, specializing in simulation. He worked as a university staff member and later, as a product planner in Turkish vehicle industry. During his service at the Turkish Armed Forces HQ., he applied simulation techniques to military. In 1999, he moved to NATO SHAPE Technical Center in the Netherlands, where he worked as a simulation scientist on the Land Team and led the C2 Team. In 1999 he served NATO and OSCE in the Balkans, assisting in the implementation of Security Building Measures.
In 2000, he became the land armaments officer at the NATO International Staff, providing advisory support to NATO communities across land and ammunition safety domains, as the Secretary to the NATO Army Armaments Group. He retired in July and became a freelance consultant.
Mr. Tasman is recipient of the NATO Peace Medal for his services in the Balkans, and was recently awarded the Honourable Order of Santa Barbara for his contributions to artillery development.
Mr. Tasman is Belgian and Turkish, married, and father of one daughter.
