Brigadier General Mikula was born in Třebíč, Czech Republic, on October 27, 1972. He began his education at the Military High School in Martin, Slovak Republic, in 1987 and graduated in 1991. He then pursued further studies at the Military University of the Ground Forces in Vyškov, Czech Republic, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1995 and a master’s degree in 2000. Subsequently, he attended Defense Management as a postgraduate at the Military University in Brno from 2002 to 2003. Brigadier General Mikula graduated from the US Army War College in 2018 with a Master of Strategic Studies degree and from the US National Defense University in 2024 with a Master of Science degree.Brigadier General Mikula commenced his military service with the 1st Artillery Brigade in 1995, where he held various positions, including Platoon Leader, Battery Commander, Chief of Division Fire Support Cell, Chief of G2, Battalion Chief of Staff, and Deputy Commander. Between 2010 and 2014, he was assigned to the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade, serving as Chief of G3/G5 and the 41st Mechanized Battalion Commander. From 2014 onwards, he occupied the position of Chief of the Mechanized & Armoured Department within the Capabilities Development and Planning Division at the Ministry of Defense. In 2018, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the 7th Mechanized Brigade. From 2020 to 2022, Brigadier General Mikula served as Director of the Land Forces Development Department within the Force Development Division at the Ministry of Defense.Brigadier General Mikula has participated in several foreign operations, including deployments in Kosovo (KFOR) in 2004 and 2006, Iraq (NATO Training Mission) from 2007 to 2008, and Afghanistan (ISAF – OMLT Wardak) from 2011 to 2012.
