Personal Profile

He began his military career with the 13th Engineer Regiment in Trier, Germany. He subsequently gained admission to the Joint Military Academy, graduating with the “Général Gandoët” class (1996–1998). Upon completion of his studies at Coëtquidan, he selected the Engineers branch and attended the application course in Angers.

From 1999 to 2006, he served with the 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment in Laudun as a lieutenant and later as a captain. During this time, he commanded a combat platoon, served as deputy operations officer, and commanded a company. His operational deployments included two tours with the 13th Foreign Legion Half-Brigade in Djibouti (1999, 2001), a tour with the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment in Kourou (2002), followed by service in Ivory Coast (2003) and Afghanistan (2005).

In 2006, he was assigned to the Saint-Cyr Military Academy. He subsequently deployed to southern Lebanon as part of the UN, before attending the Advanced Staff Course (2009) and the Joint Defence College (2009–2010).

In 2010, he was posted to the 3rd Engineer Regiment in Charleville-Mézières as Chief of Operations and Training. He deployed with the regiment to Afghanistan as part of the “Lafayette” Brigade in Kapisa (2011–2012).

In 2012, he joined the Human Resources Policy Directorate in Paris, where he conducted strategic studies on officer career development and retention.

On 16 July 2014, he assumed command of the 19th Engineer Regiment in Besançon. During his tenure, he oversaw operational deployments in the Sahel, directed the regiment’s transfer from the 7th Armoured Brigade to the 1st Division, and managed its reorganization.

From 2016 to 2018, he served as Chief of Staff of the 7th Armoured Brigade. He participated in Operation Barkhane and led the brigade’s restructuring and operational readiness program, with an emphasis on interoperability with allied forces.

In 2018, he was appointed Head of the “Occupational Policy and Associated Training” office within the Army Human Resources Directorate in Paris, where he played a role in the establishment of the Preparatory and Technical Military School (EMPT) in Bourges.

In 2021, he became Chief of Staff of the Western Defence and Security Zone Headquarters in Rennes, where he directed the headquarters’ reorganization and led several domestic operations. In 2023, he returned to Paris as Deputy to the General Officer for Senior Army Leadership.

Promoted to Brigadier General on 1 August 2025, he has been appointed to take command of the Engineer School.

Born in 1970, Brigadier General de RICHOUFFTZ is married and the father of four children.
