Colonel Pedro Miguel da Silva Costa, has a degree in Military and Aeronautical Sciences from the Air Force Academy, in the specialty of Electrical Engineering, and has completed career courses as well as the Joint Staff Course (CEMC). He holds a Master’s degree in Military Sciences, Security and Defense from the Military University Institute (IUM).
He is currently based at the Air Force Air Command, as Head of the Air Force Space Operations Centre. He also holds the position of National Contact Point for Innovation and Development – Space in Defence at the European Defence Agency.
In addition to these duties, in coordination with the Air Force Academy, he is the Director of the Postgraduate Course “Space in Defense and National Security”.
He is a PhD candidate in International Relations (specializing in History and Theory of International Relations) at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with the thesis title “Space Power and International Relations: the European Union and the integration of space technology in its Security and Defence domain”.
