The RMCI eXpandable Rotorcraft Diagnostic System (XRDS™) is lightweight, powerful, and accurate: turning data into actionable information. The XRDS performs Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA), flight data monitoring (FDM), supports safety management systems (SMS), instrumented video playback of flights, performs routine maintenance such as engine vibration checks, shaft balance, rotor track and balance, regime recognition, flight performance data, real-time processing of data, and more. The name of the system includes “eXpandable.” The electronics are modern and modular providing capability to add new and future sensors such as structural monitoring, and software enhancements. Even with the leading-edge electronics and software flexibility, and no obsolescence issues, RMCI has an obsolescence mitigation plan. Further, the XRDS has been fielded on over 22 different rotorcraft models and fixed-wing aircraft. RMCI holds several patents including patents for gear diagnostics, and an advanced blade tracker. RMCI provides a comprehensive data warehouse to complement the system’s fleet maintenance management capabilities. The XRDS also interfaces with existing maintenance management systems.
