Pierpaolo Caligari is a senior Italian Army officer with nearly a decade of progressive military experience spanning cybersecurity, strategic planning, and international relations. He currently serves as Commander of the 9th Cyber Security Regiment in Rome, a position he has held since October 2023.
Prior to this, he spent over three years as a Senior Staff Officer in the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, contributing to high-level strategy and problem-solving at the institutional level. His cybersecurity focus began earlier as Commander of the Cyber Security Unit from 2019 to 2020.
Between 2016 and 2019, he served as an International Relations Officer, developing expertise in diplomacy and inter-institutional coordination. From 2015 to 2016, he attended a Master’s program with the French Army (Armée de Terre) in Paris, reflecting his commitment to multinational military education.
Earlier in his career he held roles in general planning, intelligence analysis, and operations, building a well-rounded foundation across multiple branches of military staff work. He is also a graduate of the Italian Army Staff Course.
