Commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps in December 2003, Colonel Dave Groce has enjoyed a varied and distinguished career spanning operational command and strategic leadership roles. He was appointed Chief of Staff, Standing Joint Force Logistic Component (COS SJFLogC) in June 2025.
Dave’s command experience includes leading a Logistic Squadron in BATUS, Canada, where he delivered complex sustainment solutions in austere environments and supported high-intensity armoured battle group training. He later commanded 7 Regiment RLC, providing logistic support to expeditionary operations worldwide, including deployments across Southern Europe. During this period, he also delivered logistic consultancy to the Armed Forces of Kuwait and Nigeria, strengthening international partnerships and enhancing operational capability.
On the staff, Dave has served as Brigade Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff for Headquarters Logistics (Army), and as the Head Logistic Policy, where he authored Defence Logistic Direction, shaping policy and doctrine for the British Army and wider Defence. Most recently, he acted as the Army’s lead for Parliamentary Engagement, ensuring strategic alignment between Defence priorities and government stakeholders.
Dave was awarded an MBE for his pioneering work on the sustainment of the innovative Strike Brigade and Operations in Estonia, and an OBE for his leadership in cohering the international logistic response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, coordinating multinational resources under intense operational pressure.
Dave is a Board member of the Logistic Research Institute where is deep expertise in global supply chain resilience, defence logistics, and strategic planning, brings exceptional insight into innovating logistic solutions for complex, multinational environments, driving research and transformation to meet the demands of future operations.
