Colonel Jorge Inácio joined the Portuguese Air Force Academy in 1992. Upon graduation,
he served in the Tactical Air Transport and Search and Rescue Squadrons, accumulating
approximately 3,000 flight hours on the SA-316B Alouette III, SA-330 Puma, and EH-101
Merlin helicopters.
Throughout his career, Colonel Inácio has held various significant positions. He served in
the Air Command/Plans Branch and as a teacher of Joint Operations Planning at the Joint
Staff College. Additionally, he worked in the Concepts and Capabilities Directorate
(CONCAP), Force and Capability Branch (FORCAP) of the European Union Military Staff
(EUMS), where he held roles as Action Officer and Deputy Branch Chief.
Colonel Inácio holds a degree in Military Aeronautical Sciences (pre-Bologna),
specialization Pilot, as well as the Course for Promotion to Senior Officer, the Joint Staff
Course, and a Postgraduate Course in Military Sciences, Security and Defense.
Since returning from Brussels in October 2022, Colonel Inácio has been actively
contributing to the Multinational Helicopter Training Centre (MHTC). He was appointed
MHTC Commander at the 1st MHTC Steering Board meeting in November 2022.
Furthermore, on October 18, 2024, he was designated as Sintra Air Base Commander.
Currently, Colonel Jorge Inácio serves as the Commander of both the MHTC and
Portuguese Air Force Air Base No. 1.
