Colonel Lars Hedemark joins us at commander of Royal Danish Air Force’ Air Transport Wing and garrison commander of Aalborg Air Base, home to the Danish fleet of C-130J-30 airlifters, CL-604 maritime surveillance platform and – from 2029 – MQ-9B SEAGUARDIAN intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

Prior to his current post, Colonel Hedemark enjoyed four years as Defense Counsellor at The Kingdom of Denmark’s Embassy to United Kingdom in London, and has previously served abroad in the same capacity at national diplomatic representations in Kabul and Brussels.

Colonel Hedemark has, however, spend most of his senior career at Denmark’s Ministry of Defence and Defence Command in Central Copenhagen, working predominantly with plans & policy. During his younger years, he flew C-130H and Gulfstream G-III for the 721st Squadron – then out of Vaerloese Air Base, but since relocated to Aalborg Air base.

Having joined the Royal Danish Air Force Flying School in August 1984, Colonel Hedemark today is decorated as Knight Commander of the Dannebrog Order, and holds Royal Danish Air Force Commendation Medal with Gold Oak Leaf and four decorations for International Operations (Afghanistan).
