Plans Officer – Armoured Branch, French Army HQ
After graduating in 2008 he followed the initial platoon leader course at the armoured branch school and specialized on MBT Leclerc. He joined as first assignment the 4th dragoon regiment and was deployed twice in overseas operations. The first time in 2011 as platoon leader teaching instructor at the Kaboul Armoured Branch School in Afghanistan, and the second time in 2013 as deputy company commander of the Force Commander Reserve recce squadron in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
He was then assigned in the 3rd hussar regiment and took command in 2015 of the regimental recce and antitank squadron. He was deployed on Lebanon again in 2015 and assumed command of the FCR recce squadron. His unit was highly involved in national soil anti-terrorist operations from 2015 to 2017.
Starting a new part of his career after giving back his command in 2017, he joined the joint operational command in Paris where he followed the NATO advanced comprehensive operations planning course. He served as planning officer in various operational level joint exercises with allied armies included USA and Persian Gulf countries. He was deployed in Mali as operations chief in MINUSMA sector centre in 2020 and started in 2021 the war college course where he has perfected his mastery of major political and military issues as well as his operational planning abilities.
Appointed to the French Rapid Reaction Corps headquarters in 2022, he served as planning team leader during exercise ORION 23, a full-scale demonstration of French army high intensity warfare capabilities. He was then assigned in 2023 to 7th Armoured Brigade headquarters as chief of operations and took command of the brigade forward command element integrated in the NATO structure on the eastern flank in Romania for 6 months between August 2023 and February 2025.
Starting July 2025 he will serve at the Army Headquarters in Paris as planner in future armoured capabilities of French land forces.
Lieutenant-colonel Camus owns a master degree in strategy and international relations. He has been awarded the French Order of Merit. He is married and has one child.
