ISTAR Battalion Commander, Estonian Defence Forces
Lieutenant Colonel Vjatšeslav Senin is the commander of the Estonian Division ISTAR battalion. His duties include command, control and coordination of the Division intelligence collection and target acquisition operations. Vjatšeslav Senin joined the Estonian Defence Forces in 2005 through the conscription service. In 2009 he graduated from the Military Academy Basic Officer Training Course with honours. After commissioning, Vjatšeslav Senin served as a platoon and company commander in infantry, antitank and reconnaissance units. His staff work experience include positions of an infantry battalion intelligence officer (S2) and future ISR capabilities planner at the Military Intelligence Centre. Prior to his current position he served as a Chief of Operations (G3) of the Estonian Division. Vjatšeslav Senin has obtained two Master’s degrees: one from the Estonian Military Academy Advanced Officer Training Course (2017) and another – from the US Army Command and General Staff College (2023). LTC Senin has been deployed to multinational military operations twice. In 2013 he served in Afghanistan Helmand province as an infantry platoon leader of the Estonian Company which operated as a part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). In 2021 he was a Senior National Representative of the Estonian contingent in the Operation Barkhane in Mali.
