Lieutenant Colonel Will France

Lt Col Will France has been SO1 Cap Dev in Army Capability & Force Design since May 2025.

Prior to completing flying training, he completed a tour with the Prince of Wales’ Company Welsh Guards in Bosnia as a Platoon Commander. Following Apache Mk1 Conversion-toRole in 2010, he completed four operational tours in Afghanistan as an air mission commander and latterly a Squadron Operations Officer. In 2014 he was posted to 1 Regiment AAC as the Operations Officer for a busy period of transition, during which the Regiment fielded the Wildcat.

Lt Col France was briefly posted to Army Headquarters as SO2 ISR in the Information Directorate until the post was subsumed into the Joint Helicopter Command as part of a restructure. He served as SO2 In-service Capability Management in the JHC, where he was the lead for the management and oversight of in-service helicopters. Post sub-unit command he has completed several staff roles including Chief-of-Staff for the AH-64E Transition Team, COS of HQ Army Air Corps and Programme Manager of the Attack Helicopter Capability Sustainment Programme.
