UK And Norway Join CAVS Programme

The United Kingdom and Norway have joined the CAVS programme.

The British Army is set to acquire and operate Patria’s 6×6 armoured vehicle after the United Kingdom and Norway joined the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme.

The two new countries have become the sixth and seventh members of the programme, following Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, and Sweden.

Babcock International will team with Patria to build and support the 6×6 CAVS vehicles for the British Army. The news was announced at DSEI 2025 in London this week.

Esa Rautalinko, President and CEO of Patria commented: ”Patria welcomes both the U.K. and Norway into the CAVS programme… As European security needs to be strengthened, multinational collaboration is increasingly important for interoperability, interchangeability and security of supply among allies.”

Patria has delivered more than 250 CAVS platforms and has already orders for nearly 750 more than 250 through the programme, which was originally established in 2020 by Finland and Latvia to jointly develop state-of-the-art armoured vehicle.

Its modular design means the armoured personnel carrier can be adapted for a range of missions from troop transport and logistics to medevac, reconnaissance, and combat operations.
