Rheinmetall will supply 149 additional mobile rescue stations to the Bundeswehr, in a deal worth over €500 million gross. The order extends a framework contract awarded in December 2024 and marks the largest single order Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH has received to date, as per a recent press statement.

The latest call-off brings the total number of rescue stations ordered to 165 systems, worth more than €600 million combined. BAAINBw, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, originally commissioned up to 137 units in December 2024, comprising ten ballistically protected and six unprotected systems. Production of the new batch begins in the first quarter of 2027, and the contract includes options for further armoured and unarmoured call-offs, alongside personnel training.

The rescue stations form part of the Bundeswehr’s Modular Medical Facilities system, providing troops with mobile initial emergency care. Four soldiers can set up or dismantle a station within minutes, reflecting lessons drawn from Ukraine on the need for highly mobile medical support.

Each station consists of two containers that operate together or independently, each fitted with its own generator and air conditioning for several days of standalone use. A fully equipped emergency treatment area sits alongside four additional treatment stations, with equipment mounted on Airliner rails for flexible configuration.

Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH designed a custom lifting system, since no existing solution met requirements for setup on sloped or uneven ground. The modular 3:1 container design replaces older tent-based structures, allowing deployment across more demanding terrain than previous systems permitted.
