American Rheinmetall to Deliver Advanced Unmanned Ground Vehicles to U.S. Marine Corps

American Rheinmetall has received a $7.28 million contract to manufacture and deliver Mission Master SP Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (A-UGVs) to the U.S. Marine Corps, as per a recent press statement. The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is managing the procurement, with ADS Inc. acting as prime contractor in support of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL).

The contract covers 12 Mission Master SP vehicles and five amphibious kits. This configuration represents the most advanced version of the Mission Master platform Rheinmetall has produced. The vehicles will support ongoing evaluation and experimentation as the Marine Corps develops its autonomous logistics and expeditionary mobility capabilities.

American Rheinmetall CEO Matt Warnick commented: “This award represents a significant milestone in our long-standing partnership with the United States Marine Corps.” He added that four years of collaboration with Marines had shaped the Mission Master SP’s development.

Rheinmetall Canada President and CEO Pietro Mazzei added that the partnership allows the Marine Corps to deploy the vehicles across multi-domain environments.

The new vehicles integrate Rheinmetall’s PATH autonomy architecture and modular payload systems, alongside the Marine Kit, which extends amphibious operating capability in littoral environments. The contract also includes program management, engineering support, technical documentation, operator training, and acceptance testing.

The work supports American Rheinmetall’s broader strategy to expand U.S.-based autonomous ground vehicle production. It also builds toward the company’s planned Advanced Land Autonomy Center of Excellence (ALACOE) in Maine, which will focus on PATH integration, production, and lifecycle support.

The Mission Master SP programme reflects continued Marine Corps efforts to reduce personnel risk while extending operational reach in distributed and expeditionary environments.
