Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH and Greek industrial group GEK TERNA S.A. have signed a binding Strategic Framework Agreement to develop Greece’s defence industrial base and deliver advanced land systems to the Hellenic Armed Forces.

The deal builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the two companies signed in Q4 2025. It pairs Rheinmetall’s land systems portfolio with GEK TERNA’s infrastructure, energy, and industrial presence across South-Eastern Europe.

As per a recent press statement, the partnership will supply the Hellenic Armed Forces with new tactical land systems. It will also cover lifecycle maintenance and upgrades for existing equipment. A key objective is developing sustained industrial capability within the Hellenic Army’s own facilities. Greek small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will participate actively in this process.

The two companies plan to establish domestic capacity for production, integration, maintenance, and support. This approach aims to reduce Greece’s reliance on external suppliers. It will also strengthen sovereign control over critical defence assets throughout their full lifecycle.

The deal reflects a wider NATO focus on host-nation industrial development as allies embed domestic value chains within major procurement programmes. Greece has moved to modernise its ground forces amid persistent regional security pressures, positioning it as a key market for Rheinmetall’s growing European land systems footprint.
