Saab has signed a long-term agreement with the Netherlands Ministry of Defence to supply its Barracuda Mobile Camouflage System, according to a recent press statement from the Swedish defence company.
The agreement also includes a first order, with Saab confirming deliveries will begin in the coming years. The deal strengthens Saab’s foothold in the Dutch defence market and reflects growing European demand for advanced camouflage and signature management technology.
The Barracuda Mobile Camouflage System reduces the visual, thermal and radar signatures of military vehicles and equipment. Armed forces worldwide use it to protect personnel and assets from detection across multiple threat spectrums, including infrared and radar sensors.
This latest agreement comes amid a broader push by NATO members to modernise their armed forces and enhance battlefield survivability. European nations have significantly increased defence spending in recent years, driven by heightened security concerns on the continent. Camouflage and concealment technology has become an increasingly important component of that modernisation, as adversaries deploy more sophisticated surveillance and targeting systems.
For Saab, the long-term nature of the agreement provides a stable revenue stream and cements the company’s position as a key supplier to the Dutch military. It also signals continued confidence in Swedish defence technology among NATO allies.
Neither Saab nor the Netherlands Ministry of Defence disclosed the financial value of the agreement or the specific scope of the first order.
