Ukraine has received a further €1.24 billion from the European Union under the defence component of the Ukraine Support Loan, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. The money will fund Ukrainian-made drones, interceptor drones, UAV munitions and missiles.
Priority needs
The Ministry said the tranche will strengthen the Defence Forces on the battlefield. It will also create new orders for Ukraine’s domestic defence industry.
With this payment, Ukraine has now received almost €13 billion in defence funding under the loan. The Ministry thanked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Defence and Space Commissioner Andrius Kubilius and EU member states for their sustained support.
How the loan works
The Ukraine Support Loan provides up to €90 billion for 2026 and 2027. Almost €60 billion is earmarked for defence, and a further €30 billion is allocated for budget support.
Of the total, €28.3 billion is planned for 2026 to support Ukraine’s defence-industrial capacity.
What remains
Following the latest tranche, €28.1 billion remains available until the end of 2026. That figure splits into two parts:
- €15.4 billion to support defence-industrial capacity
- €12.7 billion in budget support
Industrial integration
The defence component aims to develop and modernise Ukraine’s defence technological and industrial base. It also seeks to integrate that base gradually into a common European defence industry.
