ARX Robotics and DEUTZ have delivered the first GEREON unmanned ground systems built at DEUTZ’s Ulm plant, just 12 weeks after announcing their joint production ramp-up, according to a company statement issued in Munich on 29 September 2026. The vehicles are bound for Ukraine’s Defense Forces, where they will join GEREON systems already in service.

Part of a larger contract

The batch forms part of a bigger production volume. The two companies plan to keep raising output over the coming months. They describe the delivery as the start of the next phase in scaling GEREON production.

Rising demand for unmanned ground vehicles

Demand for uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) is climbing across Europe and beyond. Land forces increasingly deploy unmanned systems to strengthen their capabilities and to keep soldiers out of high-risk missions. The partners say expanded GEREON production responds directly to that demand.

Start-up agility meets industrial capacity

ARX Robotics brings system development, software and integration expertise. DEUTZ contributes manufacturing capability and industrial production capacity. The companies say the 12-week turnaround shows how a defence-tech firm and an established industrial player can move operational systems into production quickly and at scale.

Marc Wietfeld, Co-Founder and CEO of ARX Robotics, said Europe’s armed forces need thousands of unmanned ground systems within a very short timeframe. “The question is how quickly we can move new technologies from development into production,” he said. He added that the programme strengthens Europe’s sovereignty and long-term defence capabilities.

Marco Herre, CEO of the Defense Business Unit at DEUTZ, said the delivery proves the Ulm plant can build complex products quickly, reliably and at scale. DEUTZ, he said, supplies expertise in efficient production, quality assurance and industrial scaling as it helps ARX Robotics expand output in stages.
