Ukraine and Canada have agreed to jointly manufacture Ukrainian reconnaissance drones in Canada, expanding defence industrial cooperation between the two countries.
As per a statement from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, the drones produced under the programme will be supplied to Ukraine’s Defence Forces to support intelligence gathering and operational planning missions.
The agreement was signed by representatives of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and Canada’s Department of National Defence.
Under the arrangement, Ukrainian defence technology company Airlogix and Canadian unmanned systems manufacturer Sentinel Research and Development will establish a joint venture known as Airlogix-Sentinel.
The project has received support from both governments and aims to accelerate the delivery of reconnaissance capabilities to Ukrainian military personnel.
According to the ministry, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen defence cooperation and increase access to operationally proven technologies developed during the war in Ukraine.
The programme also offers industrial benefits for Canada. These include expanding domestic manufacturing capacity in critical technology sectors and gaining access to unmanned systems designed and refined under modern combat conditions.
Ukrainian officials described the project as a mutually beneficial partnership that supports the security interests of both nations while contributing to Ukraine’s wider defence strategy.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine also thanked Canada for its continued support and commitment to advancing practical defence industry projects between the two countries.
