DroneShield and Terma have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a strategic collaboration to develop and deliver layered counter-UAS capabilities to defence customers globally, according to DroneShield.

The agreement brings together two companies with complementary portfolios. DroneShield contributes AI-enabled drone detection and command-and-control software, while Terma adds advanced air defence and electronic warfare systems. The MOU establishes a structured framework to validate combined capabilities, build technical interoperability, and pursue coordinated market engagement.

Addressing a Growing Operational Challenge

Modern drone threats rarely present single-sensor problems. They demand layered, multi-domain responses. A layered approach allows operators to select detection technologies matched to their specific threat environment, and when underpinned by AI-driven sensor fusion, such architectures improve situational awareness and sharpen accuracy in drone detection and classification. Both qualities are critical to fast, decisive responses in contested airspace.

Louis Gamarra, Chief Commercial Officer at DroneShield, said the collaboration strengthens both companies’ ability to address evolving air defence requirements. “Counter-UAS operations increasingly demand interoperable, multi-sensor solutions that can be deployed rapidly and scaled across diverse operational environments. Partnering with Terma allows DroneShield to combine our battle-proven counter-UAS and command-and-control capabilities with Terma’s advanced air defence technologies, creating a compelling pathway for customers seeking to enhance layered defence outcomes.”

Steen Trier, Vice President of Global Sales at Terma, said the MOU supports customers seeking to strengthen counter-UAS capability within established frameworks. “Terma works closely with defence customers operating in complex and demanding environments. This collaboration with DroneShield enables us to complement existing capabilities with additional counter-UAS solutions, supporting customers as operational requirements continue to evolve.”

Target Markets Span Three Regions

The MOU targets customers across Denmark, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific, regions where legacy air defence frameworks face growing pressure to incorporate counter-UAS capability at scale.

Industry Context

Conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have demonstrated the asymmetric impact of drone warfare, exposing gaps in detection and defeat layers across military and critical infrastructure roles. The agreement does not commit either party to specific contracts, but it establishes the interoperability standards and joint go-to-market coordination from which future bids are likely to emerge. As European and Middle Eastern defence budgets continue prioritising counter-UAS spending, both companies are positioning to meet a market moving toward integrated, multi-vendor solutions.
