Patria intends to have its new Trackx all-terrain armoured personnel carrier ready for mass production in 2027, the firm has revealed.
The new tracked APC was launched at DSEI 2025 in London earlier this month and is designed to carry a dozen soldiers plus equipment in a highly protected vehicle which can cope with extremely challenging terrain.
As per the firm’s press statement, the new ATV design includes extra-wide rubber tracks to distribute its weight evenly and reduce pressure on the ground it is traversing, while each wheel driving the track has independent hydropneumatic suspension.
Patria’s Executive Vice President of Protected Mobility Jussi Järvinen commented: “Patria is very proud to have launched this new exceptional all-terrain tracked vehicle.”
He went on: “This vehicle aligns perfectly with the high-level requirements established by the FAMOUS programme member nations, and it offers an optimal solution for various applications that demand high mobility standards for military units.”
The statement noted: “Enhancing the mobility and performance of land forces is a key priority for E.U. countries as they advance their long-term defence strategies.
“In response to these growing capability needs, Patria has developed… Trackx within the framework of the multinational EDF-funded FAMOUS development programme, in collaboration with its industrial partners and programme member nations.”
The FAMOUS (Future highly mobile Augmented ArMOUred Systems) programme is a two-phased multinational initiative to develop a new generation of land vehicles. Nine countries — Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Latvia, Germany, Greece and Spain — formed the initial consortium under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme.
Patria is the industrial coordinator and Finland is the lead nation; in Finland, the project is linked to the Finnish Army’s Arctic Mobility programme seeking to replace its existing fleet of all-terrain vehicles.
