Finnish defence communications specialist Savox Communications has launched MissionCore, a new open and interoperable mission platform designed to consolidate fragmented battlefield data into coherent situational awareness. The announcement came on 12 June 2026, as per a recent press statement.

Built on a software-defined, modular, internet protocol (IP)-based architecture, MissionCore integrates voice, video, and data into a scalable command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) solution. The platform targets a persistent challenge across modern defence operations: fragmented legacy systems that undermine interoperability and slow decision-making.

MissionCore fuses multiple data streams into a unified operational environment, reducing cognitive burden on operators in the field. Its multi-sensory user interface combines audio and visual elements to deliver critical information under demanding conditions. The platform supports integration into battle management and artificial intelligence (AI) systems and aligns with NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) standards, ensuring long-term adaptability.

Unlike closed, proprietary solutions, the software-defined architecture supports voice over internet protocol (VoIP), broadband and narrowband military networks, video feeds, and sensor inputs. Defence forces can modernise existing networks with limited disruption, avoiding the cost and complexity of wholesale system replacement.

Savox has also introduced two new hardware components to support the platform: data processing units (DPU) and data routing units (DRU). Both enable low-power, efficient processing and routing of mission-critical voice, video, and data across battlefield environments.

Chief Executive Officer Jerry Kettunen commented: “MissionCore removes the barriers created by fragmented systems. It gives defence forces a unified platform to integrate existing assets, accelerate decision-making, and modernise on their own terms without being locked into closed architectures.”
